| I think I've arrived into mid-age much earlier than expected. "I can't sleep very well". I'm always told that older people sleep much less than their youth. In the textbooks, it also mentioned that older people spend a lot less time in slow wave sleep (4th stage). Well, today is first day of work and I wouldn't sleep very well. I went to bed last night at 11pm and woke up at 1:45 am. For the past 4 hours, I was just lying awake "trying" to go to back to sleep. This is the first time I've experienced Insomnia and I can understand why people will take medicine for it. Good thing my case is in the acute phase. In a couple of days, I will be fine. The main reason is probably because I'm still in China time. | | |
| Lazy October!
Yes, it's been a while since my last entry. The past 3 months as been a blur. It's funny how much faster time passes when you are back at home. Returning to my daily routine safe at my comfort zone can make a person less productive. School started for about two months now and I am sensing this familiar attitude that I had in my college days, even my dad is noticing it. I'm not as hard working as last year. For some strange reason, I'm not motivated to do my best. I think this is “the plateau period". In spiritual terms it's call lukewarmness. Beware of these moments; for it's times like these we create regrets. We need to live our lives to the fullest, like it's the last day. Carpe diem. Here is an "encouraging" verse.
15I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelations 3:15-16
Great, enough rambling got to seize the day and back to studying! | | |
| "All Potter's Eve"
One thing I've learned from living in the bay area is how to party!!! People here have parties for all occasions. This past Friday, I went to one of the many Harry Potter Parties at Borders. The bookstore was decorated like Hogwarts with face painting booths and varies giveaway counters. It's fun to see all the kids and adults dressed up as their favorite characters. The climax was the unveiling of Harry Potter's sixth book. You can be one of the first to own it and know who is this half-blood prince? I haven't had the time to finish book five, so I'll have to be in suspense for a few more weeks. Here are some shots from the party.

| Young at heart!
I agree with what Will said about getting old... Every inch of my body is extremely sore. I went on a crazy trip to Half Dome yesterday, Sunday. We departed Saratoga at 3:30AM, arrived at Yosemite at 7:30 AM and started hiking at 8AM. 2 miles into the hike, I sprained my left ankle, but decided to continue, which is definitely a huge mistake. 6 hours after, we reached the top of final platform before the cables. There I had to make a heartbreaking decision, should go proceed on to the cables or save my remaining ankle strength for the 9.5 mile downhill hike back to car. Btw, downhill with a sprained ankle is by far the worst. I went the latter and finally after another 5 hours, we reached the car. Even though physically, I was beyond tried and injured, but through this experience, I realized God is always with me. It reminds me of our walk with Him. During the process it is soooooooo difficult and endless, you begin to wonder where He is, but in the end the joy and comfort out weighs the pain and suffering which no simple words can describe. So hang in there, it¡¦s only another mile further! Keep telling yourself that, it helps! Here are some pictures from the trip, enjoy!

The ant trail on the rock are actually human!!!

| Today is the best Sunday I had since I left home about a month ago. I found a new church in Mountain View, CA that's affiliated with WCCC. There were about 100 people, seated on four sides creating a square. It reminds me of the old Rosemead, which made me homesick. I definitely felt like I was home again. I have to admit they do need to get a new piano player!!!
I didn't stay for the sharing portion of the meeting because I had dragon boat practice. I figured I need a hobby other than watching TV or reading Harry Potter. After practice, I decided to go swimming, since it was so hot. I use finished my facial and read for some relaxing reading. HEHE Isn¡¦t life wonderful!!!
